Michelle Matis is CFO and COO of Valencia Foundation. She joined Valencia in 2001 with several years of experience in the nonprofit sector specializing in finance and accounting.
Under Michelle's guidance as CFO, Valencia Foundation's endowment has grown to be one of the strongest among all community colleges nationwide. She manages a $63 million endowment, a $1.5 million operating budget, $7 million in scholarship and program support disbursements and a 15 member finance committee comprised of members of the foundation's board of directors.
Recently, Michelle was given the additional responsibility of Chief Operating Officer of the foundation, which means she now leads all internal operations including donor stewardship, communications, scholarships, foundation relations and alumni relations.
Michelle is a member of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education, National Association of College and University Business Officers, American Association for Women in Community Colleges and Women's Executive Council. She participated in Leadership Orlando Class 82.
A Florida native, Michelle graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelorss degree in Business Administration. She later completed the MBA program at Webster University graduating with academic honors.
